Just back from W. carribean and ready to plan our next cruise and need some advice....We want to go to the Mediterean, preferrably the western though I hear the eastern is also good. When is the preferred time to travel for weather and economy ( though these may not co-incide). We are very pleased w/Celebrity but would consider other lines. Help is needed and appreciated
We chose Celebrity Millennium for a CruiseMates cruise.. doing Western Med in a few weeks.
We chose this time frame because the weather should still be good (60's to 70's) for touring; not too hot. And the bulk of the summer tourists are gone.
Check back here towards the end of Oct, we'll let u know if all worked out as planned.
By the way, next fall we have a CruiseMates Cruise going out in Sept on the new Golden Princess, which certainly might an option for U.
Having just returned from the 9/9 to 9/22 Western Europe tour on the Millennium I can say the weather was almost perfect for traveling and touring from Amsterdam to Genoa. Amsterdam was typically rainy (misty) but mild we walked and walked. It did rain some in Paris, but we were on buses and a beau marche (boat) for lunch. One overnight rain storm at Livorno closed the port and seriously delayed our arrival and cancelled the Florence plans. I have relatives who are still touring in the Greece, Turkey, Romania area and one who is traveling the British Isles right now. Less crowds and milder temperatures. Airline rates are lower and the kids are back at school!
