Default SEA SICKNESS - SKY DECK MERCURY

Have booked cabin 1201 on Sky Deck for the Panama Cruise next November. Has anybody had any problems this high up?

Sue,

As this cabin is high up and aft, if the ship does hit rough seas, you will most likely feel more motion here than a comparable cabin on deck 9 or 10 midships.

If you're prone to motion discomfort, I highly suggest taking a cabin on a lower deck and midships.

We have been in both cabin #1200 and #1201 on the Galaxy. They are in the exact same area on the Mercury. We did not have any problems even when we went through some rough seas. They are IMHO the best cabins on the ship. The veranda is huge compared to the Cat. 2 on the lower decks. We tried to get #1201 on the Mercury las June for our Alaska cruise but no luck. It was gone!!! Enjoy

We were in cabin 1201 on the Mercury to Alaska, and had no problems with sea sickness nor noticed any added motion. Definately keep it, the added space on the balcony is great.

I have sailed on the Mercury several times. I have been on the Sky Deck in the Sky Suite on a 12 night northbound coastal from LA to Alaska last Spring, and although we did experience up to 24 foot swells, the movement of the ship did not bother me. I took the Mercury Panama Canal cruise this past October and had a Royal Suite on the Penthouse Deck and the seas were mostly calm. Keep your Sky Deck cabin. You will love it. Just remember that if you give it up, you will never get it back. People are waiting for the Sky Deck to open and the cabins are taken quickly! Have fun...The TransCanal cruise is wonderful, and the Mercury is Fantastic.
