What is Considered Proper Semi-Formal for Women?

I am a bit confused as to what is considered the proper attire for the semiformal or informal dress. According to the cruise booklet a dress or pant suit is suggested....how dressy is this supposed to be?

Something like what you would wear for business. I have a plain black silky pant suit. for formal nights I pair it with a lightly beaded lace top. For semi formal nights, a plain blouse. That worked just fine for me and I didn't feel out of place.

For semi formal attire, the man is requested to wear a jacket with tie, thus creating a little more formal atmosphere. Ladies usually wear nice pants suits or dresses (like Sunday dress of day's gone bye) And you will see lots of in betweens. For casual, jumpsuits, pants, skirts, sun dresses (for tropical itinerary), casual pants suits, etc. Shorts, jeans and t-shirts are not appropriate evening dress. Most people also remain in the requested attire for the evening as well. Have a great cruise. Planning is half the fun.
