June 1 through Nov. 30 is the official times, however, the only month that has been totally free of hurricane activity since they started keeping track of them is
April, a great month for other reasons too.
For what it is worth, I'll share with you my opinion of why April (and October for that matter) are good months.
We are two single women who travel. Both months pretty much eliminates the family reunions and kids. We both have children and a grandchild and love them dearly but we cruise to vacation and prefer no kids. Additionally, the weather in April is just right. Not too hot and not too cool. You do need to be sure you travel in April the last of the month - like the last week due to spring break. Spring break in the US and Europe, I am told, is March through April 15 or so. So we are traveling next year on the April 22 Millennium cruise. Should be past the spring breakers.
Generally we prefer to travel in October. Has been a wonderful time each time we have done it (3 times). The only concern is the last time we just missed Hurrican Jose by 2 days. If your willing to deal with that issue, which we are, the weather is outstanding and there is absolutely no kids. In fact, for two single ladies, it is just what the doctor ordered.
Everyone will have a different view of the best time based on their individual situations.
My family and I have taken 24 cruises( 4 in month of Oct) every voyage in Oct has been affected by Hurricanes or tropical storms of some type.
We suggest staying away from Oct in the Carribean and also stay away from Sept(for sure and Aug)
Nothing werse than a week of rain and wind and loosing ports you wanted (due to ships having to change ports due to storms or high seas)
