I would also like to know about Catalina Island, as we are going on the April 15 Eastern Caribbean on the Millie. Is there any way we can scuba dive there? It appears that Celebrity does not offer it as an excursion. I was wondering whether there is a way to hook up with a local dive shop?
Catalina Island isn't really an island, it's part of the Dominican Republic. they have a golf excursion to Casa de Campo, one of the Caribbean's major resorts. You might check with Casa de Campo and see if they might have SCUBA excursion you could take there.
we will be on the 4-15th as well. My husband scuba dives and is hoping to get in one or two dives on our trip. With the shortened port stays I wonder if this is going to be possible.
We were also thinking about golf on Caso de Campo, I would guess that 18 holes would be impossible now.
Carole... Catalina Island is very much an "island". It is off the coast of the Dominican Republic which shares the Island of Hispanola with Haiti. Catalina is near the Dominican city of La Romana. Catalina Island has been used for years by Costa.
The celebrity excursion description for golf at Casa de Campo never included a full round of golf. It's a special event where you are guaranteed to play at the famous hole. My husb. who is the family fgolfer is wondering if it is worth it....we had switched to Mercury when our Millenium trip was cancelled by Celebrity for a group event so we aren't having a curtailed itinerary--that's just what the celebrity web site described. There was also a companion trip to the resort itself for non-golfers & one for tennis I believe. Guess we'll find out when our trip packet arrives....
