Default Snorkeling on Catalina?

Just received the excursion booklet for our Mercury Eastern Carib cruise. We have decided none of the Casa de Campo outings are that appealing--can always go to the hotel another time for a vacation. Does anyone know if there is any snorkeling at Catalina in addition to the other water activities?.

Hi there,

Yes there is good snorkling in Catalina- except that it is not terribly warm water like Hawaii or the Caribbean- more for the well insulated diver/swimmer!

Look at www.catalina.com/scuba and have a great time.

I posted the same question a few weeks ago. I think the response was yes-- off to the side of the beach near some rocks.

Do you know if there is anywhere to rent equipment or do you need to bring your own?

I was on the Millennium last month and went to Catalina Island. LOVED IT! We just swam and ate and listened to the band and took a long walk down the beach. The water is warm but not as clear as in St.Thomas. They had Bananna boat rides, and some other things to rent, but I never went offer in that direction to find out. There is a straw market there with very aggressive salesman! If you want to get a good spot on the beach, get on the one of the first tenders! We booked the Mercury Eastern Caribbean today for March 30,so we will be back there in 7 weeks!!!!!!
Anyone else on the March 30th ?

Hi Kathi...
Didn't see any, but I might not have noticed.I will ask my husband and see if he remembers? This cruise will be with my Mom and a co worker of hers. My husband and I were on the Millie. I love the Mercury. My sons were on the Mercury when they were 17 and 18 and really liked the basketball court and video arcade. They also have volley ball games on Catalina. There will be lots of teenagers!!!! We were on the Mercury last year the same week.
If you have any questions, I will Email you my Email address
Happy Cruising!
