Just got home from the Infinity, the Panama Canal sailing! The ship is awesome, one of the prettiest I have seen. Jim Cannon the CD is great, very personable, always willing to stop and say hi. He said to say hi to Mary Lou, Kuki and Anne-so hi guys from Jim.
Have lot's of pictures, and will give a complete report, just give me a couple of days to recoup.
The cruise staff is wonderful, and lot's of fun. Was a LITTLE disappointed in the food, but no real complaints.
We did not go out of Ensenada for the Panama Canal cruise. We departed from Fort Lauderdale on March 3 and came in through San Diego on March 17. Then at 11AM . . Infinity left for Ensenada. I understand that there is a law called the Jones Act intended to protect American shipping. Basically a foreign registered ship (like Infinity) can not begin a cruise from an American destination and end in an American destination without a stop on foreign ground. Since the March 17 cruise was going to Hawaii and would not stop in any non-American ports they had to relocate to Ensenada Mexico to pick up her new passengers. There are ways around everything and this is why Alaska cruises leave from Vancouver instead of the more obvious Seattle location.
Infinity 3/3 sailing could go from Fort Lauderdale to San Diego because they stopped in Mexico, Colombia and Costa Rica.
