Anyone have any idea why Celebrity is not offering or listing any shore excursions for Progresso, Mexico? That is a port on the new Friday night departure itinerary for the "Horizon" later this season.
I can only guess. Time frame from the ship departure. The other item is safety, there are Mexican ports you do not want be in at dusk.
Only a assumption on my part.
Have been to Progresso on another line, Progresso is no more than the port, however, we did go to Merida, which was a lovely little town. We also took a tour to the Chichen Itza Mayan Ruins. It was about a 2hr bus ride with very knowledgeable and fun guides. The site is magnificent. There was also a "rest break" for drinks and an opportunity to shop. If you should go, be sure to take plenty of bottled water. we were there in May, the noon temperature was about 95F.
