Default Alaska: Does it matter what side of ship

I can't decide between Northbound or Southbound Alaska in 2002.

I used Celebrity's web site to check availible Sky Suites and they aren't showing too many open.

Does it make a big difference if your cabin isn't facing the shore? Or would you make every effort to get one that does face shore?

Suzie:

Just returned from the Infinity to Alaska and in my opinion either side would be fine. We were the Royal Suite Room 6138 (Penthouse Deck) on the starboard side (right side facing the front of the ship) and had some spectacular views and able to see just about everything. We did have a problem seeing Hubbard Glacier from our room so we did moved up to the Sky Deck for that portion of the trip.

Have a great trip.

Ray,

Thankyou for the response. If it's not too much trouble, did you get a competitive price on that Royal Suite? We've had full suites on HAL but at the published rates, could only manage a Sky Suite on Celebrity.

What was your suite treatment like?

Please email if you prefer. .......... Thanks again!

Haven't had a suite on Celebrity on my most recent cruise (Millennium) but did have a Sky Suite on the Century and a Cat 1 Suite on the Mercury, let me tell you, they certainly treat you well. Our butler on the Mercury was outstanding, although, I must admit, that in a Cat AA on Princess, no butler, but everything (like setting up for entertaining) got done just the same.

We prefer south to north, starboard cabin.

Now, here's a helpful hint. If everyone is jammed up around the rails on one side looking at something or other just go to the other side of the ship and yell, "WHALES !!!"

Then scamper back to the other side of the ship for a front-rail position.

Excellent suggestion!

Any ideas on how to clear out the Thallasotherapy Pool?

Yelling WHALES works for that too. ;-)
