Does anyone know how often the hydrofoil runs from Naples to Capri
and the approximate cost? We have toured the Amalfi Coast before and
would just like to go back and forth on our own,
Thanks
Sandy
While in Naples two weeks ago we used the hydrofoils to get to Capri. It cost about 9$ to get there and 11$ to get back. The hydrofoil port is very close to where the cruise ships dock. Once in Capri you can purchase a tourist ticket that will give you a round trip ride on the funicular and unlimited bus rides all over the island. We did this to Anacapri and walked to the Blue Grotto. We caught a bus back to Capri.
Dear Sandy--since you have the tremendous luck to be going to Capri, I have a favor to ask of you. We were there several Februarys ago, and struck up a friendship with the cafe owner in the first town up the hill (I don't think this is Anacapri--we walked a good mile uphill from the harbor and it was the first town we came to). His name is Ezio and everyone in town probably knows him and if you happened to say hello to him from Amy and Nick in Boston we would greatly appreciate it. He's incredibly nice and extremely knowledgeable about Capri so you might want to chat with him anyway. He directed us to one of the walks around Capri, a coastal stroll that was unbelievably gorgeous. Capri was one of my favorite places in Italy and you are so lucky to be going there! I am curious when you are going. We have in the back of our minds the idea of renting a house there for a week some year in April. Have a great time!
Hi,
We will be in Naples for one day sailing on the Millenium. Can't decide what is the best take. We know we want to got o Pompeii in the AM. should we try to do Sorrrento and Capri? Just go to Capri or tour the Amalfi coast. What would you suggest for first timers. Thanks.
Barbara
I couldn't imagine not spending at least 1 day to see Capri. I think you would be too rushed. There is a lot to see. It takes about 1 hour to get there and 1 hour back. Same for the Amalfi coast. Pompeii takes at least 2 hours(wish we had more time there).
We were on the May 19th cruise from Barcelona to Istanbul. Got off the ship in Naples and just missed the 0830 hydrofoil to Capri. Next one was over 1 hour later. We took the hydrofoil to Sorrento instead. Spent about 1-2 hours there. Then took the hydrofoil to Capri and went to AnaCapri and all the way to the top. Not to be missed!!! Then took boat back to the Millie and arrived about 4pm. Would not recommend trying to do more than that in one day. Chose not to do Pompeii as we were going to see lots of other ruins on this trip, but next time would definitely go to Pompeii and Amalfi coast. Just too much to do in 1 day. Have fun!
