Hi out there!
On the Barcelona to Istanbul itinerary,do any of you know which if any nights are
open seating? We don't enjoy those evenings. Always feel as if we are filling up
the tables at a cafeteria. Thanks in advance for your answers.
Why I was on the Century in Europe there was one night of open seating dining because most people returned from Paris after 9:00. This was an exception however. So, if there are any late departures from port on your itinerary they may do it then.
I agree with Tony. On the May 19 sailing from Barcelona to Istanbul there were no open seatings at night. Tony I wish I could have met you. You are probably the most knowledgeable poster on this board. You must have taken numerous cruises.
My question to you is, have you sailed on other cruise lines and how do these lines compare with Celebrity?
Hi Yannis, Celebrity is our #1 cruise line but we have also sailed on RCI and Princess on all newer +1995 ships. Each line has its positive points as well as negatives. Entertainment on Princess as well as the ease of embarkation and disembarkation is the best. I can't believe the other two lines (even with Captain's Club on Celebrity) have not taken a lesson from Princess. I like the light airy glow of RCI public spaces and rooms. Entertainment is very good with a variety of lounges and music for dancing or just listening. RCI does a good job for all demographics too especially the family. Their children's program is very well run and keeps those young sailors busy. I have yet to sail the mega Explorer or Voyagers. Maybe someday with the Grandkids!
You asked about other cruise lines. We have been fortunate to travel on
Princess,Radisson,Crystal and Celebnity. I never met a cruise ship I didn't
love. Some were better than others, but all had special features. We were
on the Millenium last year and had a few problems, which were common
for any inaugural season, but the ship is absolutely lovely. The quality of the food was good and the service was wonderful in our cabin and all the bars.
Our dining room service left a little to be desired, but after discussing it
with the Maitre"d,it was improved.
We did feel that everyone tried as hard as possible. We are going back this July
and will let you know how everything went. Remember, enjoy every minute
of your trip.It is a fantasy land and a bit of Paradise. Happy Millie Sailing.
