My wife and I are booked on the Millinium for the Dec. 2 cruise. I have us a guaranty of a 2B cabin for a great rate of $1,650 for both of us. My question or concern is all the negative talk about the service on board and the problems with the ship. This trip is for our 10th wedding anniversary and will be a surprise for my wife. We have sailed on NCL on four previous times and have enjoyed our cruise experience. Since this is for a special occasion, I thought that we might try Princess, HAL or Celebrity since they are suppose to be nicer lines. I would like to get some reassurance that I have made the right choice. Thanks for your help.
We were on the ship last summer when so many people on some of the cruise boards were complaining about the ship. We thought the ship was great -- so much so that we have booked her again for this August for a 12 day cruise in the Meditteranean. The food and the service on board were great. You will really enjoy this ship.
I have sailed with Celebrity three times and every time was wonderful. Millennium is my favorite ship to date. Food, service and overall experience was simply the best. Try not to put too much stock in the negative comments. I believe being flexible is key to enjoying your trip. Go with the flo and enjoy! Happy anniversary.

Tracy - a lot of the mechanical problems the Millennium was having were corrected in the two drydocks. As for the service and food - a lot of the complaints were from her first few cruises where there are always some glitches with services. I was on the Millie in February and I was completely pleased with the ship, service and food. I think you made a great choice - so sit back and enjoy being pampered!
We were on the Millennium (in Europe) October 23, 2000 and November 3, 2000 and then on the Infinity May 1st and June 1st. WE COULD NOT HAVE HAD A BETTER TIME!!! The service and the ships were wonderful!!
Please don't let the negative comments on the boards spoil your trip. You will have the trip of a life time!
Tracy, at that great price, you can't afford not to have a great time. Many people just like to complain. Most of the mechanical problems have been fixed. Service and fine features of a Celebrity cruise are still top notch. Don't put your expectations so high that they are unreachable. Your cabin will be great. Bring a bottle of buddly to sip while relaxing on your verandah. Take in the shows, tour the ports, relax by the pools or sip a specialty coffe at the Cova Cafe. But most of all enjoy your anniversay cruise together.
Bon Voyage
The problem is that people are comparing today's Celebrity to the one that existed a few years ago. I sailed on Millennium and loved it -- she's a magnificent vessel. But the levels of food and service -- which were once the best in the industry -- have slipped a bit. But I'd still take this ship again.
The reason for these changes: the enormous influx of new ships, which has caused overcapacity and resulted in steep discounting at every cruise line.
No company can survive taking in half the revenue they once got and not cutting somewhere. Food and service are the easiest ways to do this.
We were on the Millenium's maiden voyage last year. Despite some problems, we had a great time and are booked on the 8/11 Meditteranean cruise. Which August cruise are you on?
We were just on the Millennium 3 weeks ago on the Meditterannean for our 25th anniversary and- we had a wonderful time - no complaints. Make sure you dine in the Olympic Room one evening - well worth the $25 per person cover charge. Have a a great anniversary!
