FLL Port Car Rental

I have rented cars at Fort Lauderdale airport in the past before a cruise, but have not had an occassion to rent a car on returning to Port Everglades from a cruise.

Can anyone tell me how this works at the port as there are no car rental locations there. I would prefer to use Hertz or Avis, does anyone know if they have a complimentary shuttle that will pick you up at Port Everglades and if we give them a time when booking or do you have to call or what?

I would appreciate and advise/knowledge anyone has on this subject.

Avis does have a rental office at the port but check the rates I believe thaey are higher.

Last year I rented from Alamo after the cruise. It, and seemingly all of the
other rental companies, had vans cruising the terminals (much as they do
at airports) to shuttle clients to their lots. The entire process was very
quick and efficient. I think only thirty minutes elapsed between leaving the
terminal and driving off the lot in a car.
