Hotels in Ft Lauderdale

Does anyone have recommendations about hotels in Ft Lauderdale, before a cruise? We just want someplace inexpensive, fairly close to the port. Thanks.

Amerisuites on 17th St. is about 5 minutes from both the airport and the port.....17th street is loaded with restaurants and stores.

I second using priceline.com. Have used it twice and bid 3 stars, $50 and got Marriott Marina, both times. Great view if you ask for up, and water view.

Got the Embassy Suites for $70.00 a night. Took two nights before cruise. We both just love the place. Bid on Priceline.com. Called the hotel just before my bid and the price was 169.00 per night. We also did this last year and the room was great. Good luck and Bon Voyage
