Default Galaxy Nov2 - Nov9 - Southern Carib

We're going on our 1st cruise this fall to:
St. Thomas, St, Kitts, Barbados and Aruba.

Does anyone have suggestions on what things to do/see there.
Also, opinions on the Galaxy...

Thanks..... Joe

Have this cruise booked for April 2002, so I am also interested in what to do. I have never been on the Galaxy, but was on the Century last year. They are similar - I loved the Century! I will be anxious to hear about your cruise!!!

We're doing this cruise on the Galaxy November 9-16 aboard the Galaxy. The ship is beautiful. We've never been to St. Kitts or Aruba, but have been to St. Thomas & Barbados. If this is your first time to St. Thomas, I'd recommend Megan'sBay- the beach is great, calm waters & rated one of the best in the Caribbean. Of course St. Thomas is noted for great shopping too. We took the snorkel excursion in Barbados and had a great time. Whatever you decide, have a great cruise!!

We're booked in July 2002! Slightly different ports.
Was in St Thomas this year...Go to Megan's Bay - beautiful. You can rent chairs, floats, they have facilities (bathrooms, changing rooms and a snack bar). We will be going there for sure. Rent a taxi - they all will take you there for quite a bit less then a ship excursion. St Croix - beautiful island but keep in mind one side of the island is the Atlantic...rough water with strong undertow. Along where the ships dock are the quiter beaches. I've seen references to Rainbow beach.

Enjoy...and please submit a cruise review!

Hi Joe,
Try getting a cab in St. Kitts, right in town and go over to Turtle beach, a great scenic 45 minute ride. The beach is nice and you can see Nevis from there. You can also arrange for the driver to come back at a certain time for the return to the ship, we had no problem with that and met a lot of cruisers on the same beach, some from different ships. We really enjoyed that beach day and there are also these cute little monkeys that you can purchase peanuts and feed. Have fun on Galaxy.

Joe, we are sailing with you. To save space on these forums, feel free to e-mail me and we can communicate. As many of the correspondents know on cruisemates, I have been to many of these islands (except St. Kitts) and have been on the Galaxy when she was brand new. Can't wait to sail once again. We are looking for a couple to share taxi tours with too, on Barbados and St. Kitts. Look forward to hearing from you. I am listed in Let's Meet on Board too. I can't e-mail from this site due to work situation, so hope to hear from you.
Bon Voyage

We're booked on this one for March 2002.. Can't wait to hear how much those going before us enjoy the trip! What does anyone think about snorkeling with all the shark problems on the east coast & in Bahamas this yr.? Have enjoyed snorkeling & beach trips previously but have been a bit scared after all the media coverage of these recent tragedies!

I am very cautious. With 10 cruises under my belt and being an ocean lover here on the New Engalnd coast, this is the first time ever I have had a concern about going into the sea. We were on Kauai, Hawaii once when there was a shark attack right next to our hotel, but it was an isolated incident. Seems the media is having a field day with this, but it is happening in so many different waters and places from Virginia to San Juan. I for one will be very careful in November. You may want to wait to book snorkeling excursions to see how the profile of the waters are then.
Bon Voyage

Hi: We have been to all these islands except St. Kitts and we are going ont his cruise in October. St. Thomas is no longer a bargain for shoppers so I would go with the beach. Aruba is a fun place--taxi to one of the hotel beaches on Palm Beach and it's lovely with shopping right near the pier. Barbados is beautiful: I would suggest eithe a taxi tour which includes a visit to Crane Beach (only for sights, not swimming beach) or a taxi to Harrison's Caves. Have a great trip.
