We had booked the Mercury for South America this year but had to cancel because of a death in the family. Are now reconsidering the same trip again, but would like to hear from a past cruiser on this Buenos Aires-Santiago itinerary as to what weather we are likely to encounter. It sounds like it may be cloudy and rainy most of the time. True?
We took this cruise in January 2001. We had a little bit of everything...hot at the beginning and end, kind of nasty in the Falklands, 50's and mostly sunny in Ushuaia, etc. Bring layers of clothes, but be prepared for 40 and rainy like we had in Port Stanley. I must say the ports more than compensated for the changeable weather. Oh yes, and we did have one stormy day at sea (after Cape Horn)...which we loved!
