While on the Galaxy, we noted that the Theater did'nt open their doors to allow seating until just a few minutes before the show started. We did not care for this practice because by the time the doors opened to allow seating, the area outside would be jam packed with people waiting. Is this standard on all Celebrity ships. This was not the practice on the RCCL and Carnival ships we sailed. Thanks
Rick and Deb
We have always had second seating Rick thus are "running" to catch the shows. We do love the shows and tried to see them all recently on our Galaxy cruise. We never encountered the doors being opened at the last minute and lines queing up to enter on any of our past Celebrity, RCI or Princess cruises. The dining room was the only place this occurred between seatings which is normal. We were shut out of shows on the Grand Princess since they instituted Personal Choice. More people than capacity can hold wish to go to the late show.
Happy New Year and Bon voyage
Was this for every show , every night? I 've done 3 recent Celebrity cruises and do not recall this to be the practice.
Could it possibly have something to do with a prior event in the theatre? Was there any kind of large corporate group using the theatre for meetings? I recall having plenty of time to get a seat, have the ladies use the facilities and order a drink before the shows. Perhaps it has to do with the way the cruise director runs the theatre on that ship in particular. I would say however
that your experience is not typical Celebrity.
Rick, We usually have late seating dinner and have never encountered this situation. However, I did notice that on the night of the Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail party, when we were exiting the cocktail party for dinner, there was a huge line (not really a line....more like a mosh pit) of early seating passengers waiting to get in the theater for the show. People exiting the theater from the cocktail party had a hard time snaking through the mass of people waiting for the show. As soon as everyone exited the theater from the cocktail party, they did shut the doors (presumably to clean up after the cocktail party).
