Hi Dottie

Most ships leave from San Juan late at night, ie 11PM or Midnight.

The first night is usually open seating in the dinning room. This is because passengers are still arriving during the early evening to board the ship.

Assigned seating will begin the second night aboard the Galaxy.

Hi Dottie,
We were on the Galaxy Dec 7 and the first night was open seating. The cruise was great. Have fun!

I didn't think Celebrity did open seating other than on special nights where off-ship activities put most people off ship. We have done three. Each first night was pre-arranged seating.

We sailed this cruise in November, the first night is definitely open seating - casual dress.

We too sailed Galaxy in November and the first night is open seating. They try to guide you to early 6:30 seating, but you don't have to do that especially if you have late seating anyway. The second formal night was changed too the evening when you depart Margarita Island from the Aruba night. Celebrity finally has open seating in the Main dining room or breakfast and lunch when you are at port.
Bon Voyage

The first evening is so exciting and I wish all evenings were opening seating like this. A real important suggestion is that you check where you will be sitting all the other evenings. We did not and had to sit next to the kitchen door and entrance. We missed all the see and be seen stuff in the main dining room. It was a real mistake. We understand you can change your seat if you check it out right away if you board in the afternoon. Soon to do that on the Summit Jan. 14th 2002!!! Kassie
