There was a time when :"Spring Break" came just before Easter,
but that time has long gone. I believe that many schools have a
break in February, and that they go on in one district and college
all during the following months. You might check with your local
school district or check with one of the universities. Pretty hard
to avoid those "breaks". ENJOY
Hi Marvie,
Actually "spring" break is anywhere from the beginning of March into April, you just may see a few families/kids when you cruise, but also remember most cruiseships do limit the number of passengers and Princess allows only so many kids. I also notice Easter is the last week-end in March, so you could be OK.
I actually love cruising this time of year, weather in the Caribbean is usually nice and warm and its still cold here in the Midwest.
Have fun!
April 8th was our second choice for the same reason. Spring break occurs in some areas of the country the week before or after Presidents day, as well as the traditional before and after Easter week.
Spring break should be over the week before your cruise.
Enjoy!
I would imagine that there will be quite a few families sailing. I will be on the Summit March 29 Easter Cruise, (no kids, just another couple and my husband and I). Correct me if I am wrong but isn't there an age 21 or something before you can cruise without adult supervision. I have nothing against teenagers but you better believe they would create havoc if they cruised in unsupervised groups! As for the littler kids there are loads of programs to keep them happy and of course their Mom and Dad will be there to make sure that they don't get into trouble...won't they?
Thanks for the info., everyone. I really hope there aren't "tons of families." Sounds terrible, doesn't it? Our children are grown, and we have one adorable grandson - we LOVE them all. However, when we cruise we like more of an adult atmosphere. We save a long time for our vacations. Lots of kids (running, misbehaving at dinner, just plain bored, etc.) is not our cup of tea. For the most part, the children we've had on the ship on other cruises have been very well behaved, but last sailing there were a number of babies and, quite frankly, both they AND THEIR PARENTS looked pretty haggard.
The official Spring Breaks are the weeks of March 11-15 and March 18-22.You are in luck,no wild Spring Break teen-agers like me for you!

NH public schools are off 2/23 and 4/20, MA are out 2/16 & 4/13 with New England colleges on break anytime from the beginning of March through the end of the month. One good choice is Celebrity though. Although they are trying to improve their 'kids' programs they do not have the best reputation for family cruising or the college crowd/singles cruise. You should be just fine.
