There is only one pier at each of the islands, and it will be
necessary to take a shuttle from the pier to the rental agency.
With advance reservations, the shuttles are provided by the agency.
There are a number of rental agencies--we have used Hertz
with our Gold Card. Because of the time of departure of Summit
from Nawililli(Kauai), care should be taken to allow adequate time
to return the car. It appears we will be sailing at 3 p.m. In Lahaina
most of the agencies are at the Kaanapali Beach area or West
Maui--a shuttle ride from where the tenders dock.
I believe Kona requires a tender, with shuttle service. In Hilo
the agencies are at the airport, with shuttle service. On this
island be sure to visit the Volcano Natl Park visitors center.
Allow plenty of time to tour all the interesting spots around the
volcano. Back to Lahaina, a drive up the Haleakala Volcano will
provide great views of Maui. ENJOY
Im so envyous, wish we were taking this cruise also! About, Maui, I agree with the recommendation of visiting Haleakala Volacano. One of the most beutiful sites in the world! Souldn't be missed; "On a clear day, you can see forever.
Location: Greater Tampa Bay area (south of the BIG BRIDGE!)
Re: Port Questions - 5/13/02 Summit
And the sunrise from Haleakala is surreal....there you are above the horizon AND above the clouds at just over 10,000 feet....the sun comes UP to meet YOU! Spectacular does not even begin to describe it! Mgram
