Default A word to the wise re: Maui rental car

I posted earlier about a special Hawaii rate that Alamo is offering. I booked our car for Maui thru the 800#. They assured me that the airport location was closest to the pier in Lahiana. I called back a few days later and was told they didn't pick up at the pier on Tues and Wed. (We'll be there on Wed) So...long story short, I called Maui directly and found out the Maui West location is closest to pier and they do pick up every day. If anyone knows if this isn't the right info, please let me know.

The airport locatioin is miles away from Lahaina--clear across the
isthmus. The West Maui or Kaanapali Beach locations are very
close to Lahaina and shuttle service is available. We have used
Hertz on previous trips, but Alamo may have the same arrangement

Yup. Agree with Les. Have also booked a car with Alamo for arrival in Lahaina. Pickup the car at the Kaanapali Transportation Center -about 5 min shuttle drive from the pier in Lahaina. It was $26.50/day for a compact for the time period we will be there....

Yes, this is what I found out after calling Maui directly. My point was if you call the 800# you will most likely get the wrong info and end up renting a car nowhere near where you are. Maui reps even told me the 800 people are clueless.

Thanks for the information on the Maui rental car. We are also looking at renting a car for the 2 days we will be in Maui. Do you know if there is anywhere close to the ship that we can park the car overnight and then walk to the ship? Any information would be appreciated.
