When browsing the Captain Club benefits page I noticed that they changed the free one Cat upgrade on hte Mercury from Cat11 to Cat 2 to Cat 11 to Cat 4.
This change eliminates the possibility of going from an outside to a Balcony cabin. I had booked the Mercury to Alaska using this benefit and am hoping they do not reneg on the upgrade!
I did'nt think that Capt. Club ever upgraded from an inside to an outside. I do know that if you have a balcony you can not upgrade to a suite or a higher deck. No big deal, they still allow you early embarcation, imbarcation, (EARLY ON EARLY OFF) luggage tags, and a free coctail party its still worth I think.
I took advantage of that discount. It was for a certain amount of time only (can't remember when, left everything in the hands of my capable travel agent). The upgrade was applied at the time of booking. When we put down the deposit for the outside cabin, we were invited to pick a balcony cabin. We picked a good one. I think the upgrade applied immediately upon booking.
How does the upgrade work? I booked on Galaxy Nov.1st out of Batimore. Paid for catagory 11 and travel agent confirmed room number in catagory 10. Is it possible when i get papers it may upgrade even more? Thanks
It's possible for an upgrade Kathy, but I book as a cat. guarentee and accept what they assign to me. Since 1995, I have always been assigned to a veranda cabin,8 cruises.
Good luck and enjoy your cruise.
