Default Mercury-wine purchases

Does the Mercury have a duty free shop that sells wine? If so, is the selection very good and how are the prices? Can you buy a bottle of wine from the duty free store and take it into the dinning room? I understand there is a corkage fee. Or are your duty free store purchases held for you until the end of the cruise? We will be traveling on the Mercury in October departing from San Diego. Wondering if when we get to San Diego we should stock up on some good CA wines to bring on board with us. Thanks to all who respond.

Was on the Mercury from Rio to Santiago on 3/17. Alcohol purchased on board in the shops is kept until the last night, when it is delivered to your room.

They had a very nice wine list to choose from. Many people purchased wines ashore to have with dinner, etc. There was no problem doing this, just a corking fee, which I believe was $6.00.

We just got off Mercury, 17 days from Valparaiso. We had wine everynight
that we brought on board. When you are in San Diego stop at Trader Joe's
They have a great wine selection at very good prices. Take your wine on
board. The corkage is $6 if you don't finish the wine, the wine steward will
save it for the next night. We always give the wine steward something extra
at the end of the cruise.
You will love the ship.

Thanks for the great tip about Trader Joe's and remembering to tip the wine steward. Great to hear you had a wonderful trip. We have five months and nine days to go, but whose counting!
