Thanks to everyone for all your help on these boards. They are so much fun to read. I will be cruising for my first time on the Summit this Friday in Alaska. Do men wear ties every night in the dining room? Is there a costume night? I am packing my suitcase now because I am so excited and most of the excitement is because of reading these posts every day. Everyone enjoy your respective cruises!
Men wear ties on formal nights. On informal nights they're supposed to, but many do not. On casual nights they do not. Overall, the degree to which men adhere to the dress guidelines is slipping noticeably.
Although there may be theme nights on Celebrity cruises, most passengers do not dress up accept for "tropical" night in the Caribbean. I don't think that will be an issue in Alaska. Other than the 2 formal nights, you will find the dress to be smart casual wear. If a gentleman wishes to wear a blazer, that is fine but not required. Informal a blazer with shirt & tie are expected but not always worn while a lady may choose to wear a dress or nice pants suit.
