Does anyone know what time you can board in Seward and/or Vancouver. I especially want to know about Seward. We are doing back to backs leaving out of Vancouver but are meeting someone that will be boarding in Seward.
I'm having trouble finding this information out seeing as the Alaska season is just getting started but maybe someone knows from last years season.
It depends on how you get to Seward. Almost everyone who came a day or so early (as we did) got to go on the Alaska Railroad trip from Anchorage to Seward. These people were pre-checked in at Anchorage and we got to the ship around 4pm. People flying in start arriving at the ship around 1 and the last got there at 9pm (they actually held the ship for a late plane with a dozen people on it. If your friends will be on the train expect them after four. If your friends are flying in the same day, figure and hour at the airport and almost 3 for the bus ride to Seward.
Re: Re: Re: Embarkation Time in Seward and/or Vancouver
We have just returned from a Summit cruise to Alaska. People were boarding in
Vancouver shortly after 11 a.m. Since passengers were still debarking in Seward at
9:30 a.m. it would appear that no one would be embarking until at least noon. This
is a guess, but the embarkation time is accurate. All passengers must be out of their
staterooms by 8 a.m. to allow time for "turnaround".
Re: Re: Re: Re: Embarkation Time in Seward and/or Vancouver
I called Celebrity for our cruise in Vancouver and they told me to board at 1PM. When we got to the ship, we found out that many people arrived at 11:30AM and were allowed on the ship.
Don't forget to pick up the tourist coupon books at the dock. You will not see them on the cruise or in the towns you visit. We each have free "gold" vials, cans of salmon, rain ponchos, jerky and used the coupons to get many things that were only discounted with the coupons. We felt very happy to use these coupons and spoke to many people who also used them.
