We were on Galaxy 1/3/03 Western Carib...we are 56 and 51 years. I am guessing that the average age on board was early 50's...I think of "elderly" as 80(?) But I never would have thought that the ship was all "very elderly". Thought it was actually a good cross section of all ages- infact there were a lot of youthful 20 something honeymooners surrounding us in the dining room. My expectation for this cruise was rather low, but it turned out to be one of our favorite ships and cruises.

Has your hairdresser been on the ship and how old is she/he?
Did she/he cruise the ship more than once to get an average age?

Hairdresser is in her 50's and so am I. She was talking about much older people and her customer told her that 5 people died while she was on the cruise. They would watch the boxes being taken off when the ship pulled into ports.

Yes, I am in your age group and I think of elderly as in the 80's also. Your reply made me feel better. Thank you.

Don't believe all the " on board" rumors. There are people that die on cruises, five is hard to believe. Most cruises will have passengers 70+ in age. The longer the cruise and during non standard vacation times, percentage will be higher. Cherish the elders, hopefully we to will be that age and still cruising.

We were on Galaxy a few years ago and whereas I was in my late 50's, my two girls were on the ship (mid 30's and had a blast.) They truly enjoyed themselves and are now Celebrity fans thanks to that cruise.

A lot depends on the itinerary and the length of the cruise where age is concerned. Matter of fact I was on a Carnival ship where I felt like a youngster (and that's hard to do at our age). This cruise was 17 days and I would think that this accounted for the age of the passengers.

Go and enjoy and as a previous post advised, don't make your decisions based on others experiences. Use the information to guide you but try it for yourself.

Sounds like an ax murderer was on the loose. Beware !!

I would certainly take 2nd-3rd hand info. with a grain of salt, so to speak. That's why I asked if you hairdresser had been on the ship and if so, enough times to get an average of the passengers ages.

We had tons of passengers(75+years old) on th Galaxy this summer on the New England 11 day cruise. I am in my mid 40's and felt young comparied to most of the passengers, but my wife and 2 teenage son's still had a great time. We would sail the Galaxy any time.
