South America Zenith or Ryndam

What to do? 14 day Zenith BA to Valparaiso or 17 day Ryndam Rio to Valparaiso. As seniors, we love HAL for (wraparound teak decks, cushions on deck chairs, dedicated theatre, no extra charge specialty coffees, self service laundry, bath tubs, larger cabins, dining room chairs with armrests, no extra charge alternative dining and larger space ratio) Never sailed with Celebrity, but impressed with reviews. Berlitz rates Zenith 80 points higher without all the above.
This rating appears to be based primarily on food, however, we've seen some reviews that indicate Celebrity food quality has declined.
Also we like Rio departure. Of course Ryndam is more expensive.

A co-worker recently returned from the Zenith S.A. voyage (Christmas)

She was quite disappointed in the ship. She felt the ship was quite small and the entertainment and fitness facilities were poor. She also felt the service was not up to par.

If you are happy with HAL you might want to stay with them for this voyage.

I was on the Zenith Xmas and New Years. I loved the cruise but the ship is not perfect by any stretch. H.A.L. is one of my favorites. I frankly think you will be happy in either case.

Have booked the Zenith for Mar 04. Look for a new Celebrity ship in that area next fall.
