Default Tipping Butler on Century

Hi:
Forgive me if this is a dumb question but I am not familiar with tipping a Butler. I was wondering if it is customary to tip the Butler for each service he provides or is the tip you give at the end of the cruise adequate?

Thank You
Jim

We always tipped our butler at the end of the cruise. If you tipped on each occasion, you'll get tired quickly since you will see him several times a day.

The only people you need to tip at the time of service are the bartenders. Everyone else is tipped at the end of the cruise using the envelopes provided.

Thank you for your response. Do you tip the bartender with cash or can this be added on to your ship account?

You tip the butler at the end of your cruise.

A 15% gratuity is automatically added to every bar tab to cover the bartender's tip.
If you have one who is really great... you can slide him/her a little something extra at the end of the cruise.

I always slide the bartender a little extra at the beginning of the cruise. This way the bartender usually slides me a little extra every time I see him!!!

We actually tried to tip our butler at the beginning of the cruise, but he would not take what we left. When I tried to hand it to him, he said no, that is for the end if he delivers good service. And of course it was great! I would recommend that extra luxury to everybody if you can do the suite. I was trying to encourage good service beforehand by tiping early, but still got it.
