In looking at the deck plans for the Millenium class ships (Constellation, Infinity, Millenium, and Summit), it appears that the balconies are larger on cabins 9173, 9138, 8161, and 8146 when compared to the balconies of other cabins in the same category.
A rep at Celebrity tells me that the balconies on all Category 2A cabins are identical.
Hi Tracy,we have just booked cabin 8161 on Infinity because our T.A said the balcony was bigger,I agree with you it does look bigger, but now I have convinced myself that it's because the cabin is smaller!!!.As I take everything including the kitchen sink with me one of us will be sleeping on the balcony!!
Hope someone can tell us what they are really like!!
I am not sure whether those are the 5 cabins that have bigger balconies, but other people on cruise critic commented that there are 5 cabins with the same size cabin, that just have bigger balconies! Plus celebrity will never tell you whether the balcony size is bigger! I always choose aft(which they say is the same size), the balcony is normally more than double in balcony size than other cabins of the same category
Location: Wisconsin....about 100 miles south of the Frozen Tundra and 70 miles east of Camp Randall
Re: Optical Illusion on Balcony Size???
Because of the "bump" in the Millie class ships, some side balconies are larger than others....just the way the ship is constructed. When you talk to a reservation agent at a cruise line, they have no clue that there are different size balconies on some cabins in the same categories...they are getting information from the cruise line that tells them that all cat 2A's have a ** size balcony.......etc.
But, I agree that aft balconies are the best on the Millie class ships!
Carnival Breeze with Ray B and Aerogirl 5/4/14!
The cabins you mentioned do have a little larger balcony, but it is an odd triangle sort of shape. The railing is on an angle and part of it can be viewed by the cabin on one side as it juts out a little to conform to the wider side of the ship. In my opinion, if you can get one of those I'd do it......extra footage is always appreciated!!!
