Last night I browsed over into Celebrity's website and found that the information
on the deck layouts of the Horizon will be changed after 1 January 2004. There is a
space provided to click on for the new deck plans but it is currently not available yet.
What is going on? We just booked a category 3 stateroom, #1034, on the Horizon
for a 19 January 2004 cruise. I am wondering how the "changes" will impact on
our choice of stateroom. Does anyone know what is going on about the changes
being made to Horizon's decks? The website indicates that these changes are
only being made on all passenger stateroom decks.
Anyone have any leads as to what is going on? Celebrity seems very slow
in updating their website- still no news on 2004 adults only cruises despite
information on 2004 cruises on other itineraries.
These are not physical room changes (no construction). Celebrity has added a new "class" of room. The have taken their highest catagory of "regular, nonsuite" room
and are making it Concierge Class. I'm not sure exactly what the benefits are , but , that has led to a recatorization of the rooms on each ship.
Examples 1A is now Concierge ; 1B becomes 1A , 1C becomes 1B etc.
On another bulletin board, the rumor is that Category 3 staterooms will be among
the Concierge class staterooms. So I guess you mean that category 3 will
become category 2? On that deck where we will be (Atlantic), there are two Presidential
suites, and a few deluxe oceanview suites (Cat. 1 and 2, respectively), and finally
category 3 staterooms called premium oceanview staterooms. Assuming this rumor
is true, this makes the preceding categories all into Concierge class staterooms?
Then this will leave Categories 4 through 8, which are standard oceanview
staterooms and located on other decks unchanged (as well as
Categories 9 nthrough 12 which are inside staterooms)?
If all this is true, then this will create the entire Atlantic deck as a Concierge Class? If
so, then this definitely impacts positively on our choice of stateroom since we
paid the rate based on what was offered at the time of booking which was on 1 May
2003, an early booking rate at that time. Those prices did not reflect Concierge
Class prices. Sounds like we may be in for a treat!
Even if not completely true, we still look forward to our first experience on
Celebrity Cruise Lines-- whether we get Concierge class treatment or not! We live
in Tampa and boarding/disembarking at home sounded so convenient and
a stress free way to enjoy a vacation! We have sailed on NCL, Holland America
and Carnival and have yet had a "bad cruise"! Sure, some cruises were better
than others, but we loved all of our cruises! Every cruise is a honeymoon for
my husband and I and always an adventure!
Be careful when you type in this url! It is a printout available to travel agents which
is a "Category Modification Reference Guide" which reflects the changes in
categories on all Celebrity cruise ships for 2004-2005 deployment. It does
confirm that category 3 on the Horizon WILL be a concierge class category.
However, the only confusion is that it reflects dates after 4/3/04. Unless they
are planning the changes earlier as the website and rumors seem to indicate.......
Anyway, thought you might be interested in taking a look at that piece of information....
Oops! Wanted to make an additional comment in the above post I wrote before
I posted it, but inadvertantly posted it anyway!
I wanted to add that upon further inspection of this "Category Modification Reference
Guide" I noted that not ALL category 3 staterooms appear to be redesignated
as Concierge Class. It appears in this document that some Category 3 staterooms
remain as "Oceanview". I suspect that since the Horizon (and Zenith) do not have
any veranda staterooms, that the category 3 staterooms in the aft section of the
Atlantic Deck will be designated as Concierge Class due to their closeness to the
aft outdoor deck with it own deckchairs. Perhaps this aft outdoor deck may even
be closed for the exclusive use of Concierge Class staterooms and suites on that
on the Atlantic Deck. If this is the case, then our category 3 stateroom, #1034, will
probably NOT be designated as a Concierge Class stateroom.
Whatever happens, it really doesn't matter what class we eventually will end up in.
We're just excited and looking forward to trying a new cruise line! It would be nice
if we get lucky to be redesignated as Concierge Class though......
If you cannot access this document by typing in the url, go to
the Yahoo search, type in "Celebrity Concierge Class" and it will come up
with the link to this document-- just look for the url I described. I have discovered
that somehow (I'm not a computer expert so don't know why) when I typed the url,
I can't get access to the document. So you may have to go the same way I found
it by going to Yahoo search. It really is a neat document and thought your readers
would want to see it, print it and investigate this further with your travel agent...
It also appears that the changes will be effective in April "04. Jangail, looks like you are gong to have to settle for a Cat 3. I'm booked Cat 3 on Horizon on 3/12. Maybe they will be experimenting with some of the changes by then.
I am beginning to wonder whats going on with Celebrity and if they plan on cruising to Bermuda in 2004 as I've visited their website and have found no cruises for 2004 and was wanting to know...are they ..Celebrity..cruising their or not in 2004.
According to their website the Zenith is cruising to Bermuda but not the Horizon. I can't understand why Celebrity can't get their act together for the 2004 itinerary. I have no idea what the Horizon is doing after April 2004. There is nothing for it. Usually there is both Zenith and Horizon to Bermuda.
Thanks...just something I was taking a longshot guess at.
Does anyone know whether the Zenith or Horizon would be two ships that Celebriity would possibly considering "stretching" and also whether or not Celebrity has any more plans to build any more new ships in the foreseeable future.
