'Complimentary ' welcome drinks
While the band played in the background, passengers mingled for the first time and the ship left Vancouver we were offered a delicious cocktail in such a way that it looked as if it was complimentary and then were given the bill. Bad start to what was then a wonderful cruise.

This scam has been playing for the last 20 years...don't feel wife took one of those frozen thingies off a tray recently and I scooped it out of her hands and handed it right back to the bar steward. She should have known better but with all the departure commotion she was temporarily dazed.

It happens to all of us.

The 'Complimentary ' welcome drinks are the ones that are offered when you first step onboard the ship. There are waiters with trays of champagne, white and red wine and orange juice. All the others after that are charged to your onboard account.

Guess we all fall for this once in our cruising lives. We did the same on our first cruise. Have learned our lesson, but are looking forward to the welcome champange or wine. What an addition!
