Default port charge refunds

We sailed on the Mercury in February and our stop in Grand Cayman was cancelled due to high seas.

I didn't think at the time to ask about refunds to passengers for port charges. I understand that Carnival automatically refunds passengers $25 in such situations.

Does anyone know of Celebrity's policy on this, and has anyone received a refund?

We have missed GC due to seas.....no refund.

RCL, we missed GC and private island on same cruise a couple of years ago. This is the only time it has happened to us: no refund! I have heard the same complaint about NCL. I really didn't let it bother me. In fact until I saw the subject on NCLs board last year it never crossed my mind. I would think if you asked for it immediately you would get a refund. NMNita

When we missed ports on Princess, they gave us a refund. It wasn't much though.

Gee, what time of the yr were you not able to get into GC? We enjoyed it on last cruise & will re-visit in '05? I thought Costa Maya was a hit or miss port due to roughness but did not think so for GC.

I was on a Princess cruise in january which had to bypass caracus due to labor strife. About 6 weeks after we were home Princess refunded $50 to each of us via the credit cards we had used for our cruise accounts. i thought it was very classy. john

i have also been given a refund if we did not make a port. never been on X . trying them for 1st time this oct.

hcat, twice we couldn't get to GC, once was just before Andrew in August of 91 and the other was late November about 3 years ago.

I have received a refund due to the inability to visit a port. However, it took a long time before I received it.

We missed GC last year too. Just like you it was on Mercury. but ours was in mid Nov.
I think we just got unlucky with the weather. It was the only bad day we had on the trip.
One bad day out of 8 isnt bad. cant really complain.

So, it looks like if you take Princess, you might get a port refund, but not Celebrity?

I guess when it comes to port charge refunds - it all depends on the cruise line.

Some will give port charge refunds others won't.
