Default calm cruises

We took our first cruise on the Mercury to Alaska in August and just loved it! Problem is that my husband tends to get seasick. We'd like to cruise again next June or August. Does anyone have suggestions of an itinerary that would not likely be too rough during those months? Thanks!

I was on the Mercury last August as well. We had some rough seas but only after we left the inside passage to go to Hubbard Glacier and then Sitka.

One of course never knows how calm or rough the seas will be so it's always a gamble on a ship. If you want to go to Alaska again however the odds are better for smooth sailing doing Vancouver round trip to Glacier bay, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan. Most of that itinerary stays between all of those islands so if the weather's a bit poor, the islands block the rough seas. No guarentees of course. And IMHO, Glacier Bay is much more spectacular than Hubbard.

Actually, we aren't thinking of another cruise to Alaska. So my question is really about other 7 or 8 day itineraries pretty much anywhere else....

Actually the roughest water of all is probably Alaska. The Caribbean that time of year should be very calm or relatively so. Most of the larger ships have almost no problems. Hope this helps a bit.

You might want to try either a cruise in the Mediterranean or a cruise to Canada and New England. You'll want to avoid cruises to Bermuda, which transit through the notoriously rough mid-Atlantic region, and Caribbean itineraries since hurricane season is from June through November (plus the Caribbean is very humid from June through September). While all cruise ships avoid any hurricane, the waters tend to be quite rough for a very large radius around them.

Norm.

Maybe you should think about a river boat cruise?
