Just returned from the Millie on Sunday. Had a wonderful cruise! 11 time on Celebrity and 2nd time on the Millie. If anyone has any specific questions I would be happy to answer them. Please feel free to e mail me at: email@example.com
Hi Melanie. Will be on Millie for a second time in February. How is the ship holding up. Especially interested in state of cabins: mattresses, etc. Also, noticed any change in food quality/selection? Thx. NP
The staterooms are great, no sign of wear and tear. The mattresses have all been replaced, mine was very comfortable without any lumps in it.
To me the food is very good. Buffet luncheons have a theme- Oriental, Seafood, Mexican, it is a nice change of pace. Dinner the food is excellent, you can always order anything special. I had escargot each night on the cruise, it was not a problem. Steaks were cooked to your liking as well. My friend ordered a lot of the seafood dishes and I actually thought those had improved a bit. I do not think you will be disappointed in the food. Hope you have a great cruise, counting down until the Galaxy in March!
In Casa De Campo you should take an excursion of some sort. There is nothing to do if you just get off the ship. It rained for most of the day so the beach trip was cancelled and the Kandela show was also cancelled. I hear the Kandela show is worth going to at night. There is some snorkeling that people really did like at this port.
In Puerto Rico we did the Bacardi Tour, I would not recommend that. I thought the tour would take you into the plant but it was a more historical aspect. It was okay but not really what I expected. A lot of people did the rain forest excursion and thought that was pretty good. We walked around Old San Juan in the morning which I enjoyed.
In St Thomas there are a ton of excursions to go on. My friend went on the Scuba Diving trip which was fun. Also, the moped underwater excursion was a big hit as well. Some did a beach break as well. Another family we talked with did the Coral World trip and they really did like that. Some people did two excursions in this one day since we were there for a long period of time.
In the Bahamas most people walked around and went shopping or went to the Atlantis Resort. We did the aquarium the last time we went to the Atlantis resort which is worth seeing. The beach would have been nice but it was pretty overcast and looked like rain from noon on.
Sailing Sally. I agree with most of what melenia writes, In Casa De Compo we took the beach trip it was a beautiful day and the trip was very much worth the price. The Resort was so nice we think that we will go back there as a destination. It was an all-inclusive day, which means that all the beachside drinks were included! The water was warm and very nice it had the biggest pool I have ever seen. We had dinner at a very charming restaurant in town that evening and the food was out of this world, I can get you the name if you want it.
In Porto Rico we took a cab to old San Juan (set the price before you go) and did the Bacardi Tour, the only reason that one would do that is to get some free rum, it is as melenia says, not really a tour of the distillery. There are some fun places to shop and have lunch.
St Thomas, We have been there often and know the shops we like to go to, so we made a mad dash for down town Charlotte Amale, did our shopping and beat feet back to the ship in time to take the snorkeling diving tour on St. John. We are divers, scuba divers and have seen some great reefs in Mexico and Florida, this was like walking through a grave yard, not worth the money. Our friends took the ferry from Charlotte Amale to St. John and rented a cab to take them on a tour of the Island, they had a great time.
In Nassau we went to the Atlantis, again, we have been to Nassau often, as I fly our own aircraft from Palm Beach we would fly there for lunch and some shopping, but I had never been to the Atlantis. If you go there, do not take the water taxi!!! They do not drop you off any where near the casino, and the boats are none too sea worthy and you have to listen to this loud tour guide, who is really looking for a hand out at the end of the trip. Take a cab; if you split it up with some other passengers it is not too bad and a lot nicer.
The Atlantis is very shop worn. The aquarium is worth seeing and there are some good restaurants at the Atlantis, but they are expensive. The beach is nice there. Well I hope that this will help, have a great cruise. Michael M
Melanie and Michael, you have both been very helpful. Our daughter was just by and asked two questions: Is there a Lower price for a soda card for the children rather than the $40 for the adults? and Do you know what kind of fruit juice is served/available at the buffet and dining room other than orange juice? Kids are very picky eaters. We are trying to be prepared. We are thrilled to learn about the van taxi service to Bayahibe Beach on DM.
The soda card I believe is about the same. Well worth the price I think. I really saved a lot of money buying that card. I know at lunch there is lemonade, fruit punch and iced tea. You can get that in the dining room as well. In the morning they have orange and apple juice.
