September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
I am starting this thread in hopes of meeting and sharing ideas with other fellow travelers for this date.
Before this cruise we will be on the same ship visiting the Baltic. This is the first ever Back to Back cruise for us, and I'm sure it will be the last. We are blowing the budget on this one and will have to save for years to cruise again!
We have cruised 13 times and loved everyone of them - some more than others. The only thing that gets us down on a cruise is being around complaining and gripey people - we go on a cruise to have a good time and we do!
We are retired educators from nw Texas and have a small herd of Brahman cattle that *were* our travel money - now with the new scare, I guess we won't have any extra travel money, but life goes on.
Would love to hear from any of you. If you would rather write privately, my email is Brahmama@yahoo.com.
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
We too are booked on the Constellation transatlantic. Will be sailing with others we met on past cruises. Will be going in early to London for the sights. E-mail me steve@cruisemates.com ...there is some great information out there on the total cruise.

Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Hi all,
My husband & I, and two female friends are doing this cruise. We are really looking forward to it. Already started the "pre-cruise" diet.
We will be coming from Houston, Texas. Did the "weather " research last night: Leaving Houston we will be in the high 70's, going to New York (hi 60's), then on to
London (mid 50's), Le Havre (low 60's), Cork (mid 50's), Dublin (mid 50's), Reykjavik
(mid 40's) and then back to New York for us.
I guess you could say it is going to be a "cool" trip, so pack your warmies.
Can anyoneshare information on the transatlantic flight situation. We did Luftansa
cross the pond last year and it was HORRIBLE! The seats in economy were so packed
together you literally could not stand up at your seat! Is there any carrier that allows a
little more leg room. I know we are flying "economy", but that was worse than a cattle
car! We would have more room in the baggage bin!
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
I have found that American seem to have most space in coach, what date are you flying to London.?
What date are you flying to London?
I do not know my air line yet, but I saved on my cabin ( inside Cat 10) and used the money to purchase first class air. ( The alternative would have been to travel coach and spend the night before the cruise at a hotel.) Hopefully by paying for first class I will get more comfort, few crying babies and more service.
Write to me at rafex1@earthlink.net I travel solo and getting to know people before the cruise makes it more fun.
Re: Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Glad to hear the weather prognosis! It does sound coolish - we're from Texas too, and it will be fun to get to wear some cold-weather clothing for a change. I guess the secret is just to layer and layer? It will be a challenge packing for this trip.
I really do suggest AA - we've always flown coach - and Delta was ok, but crowded in the seat. My husband is big and tall and was not comfortable. AA has a lot more knee room and the pitch is more comfortable. They are the same price.
Re: Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Evelyn,
Where are you flying from? We are coming in a day early and can't decided where to stay. - London or Dover. What are you doing?
I know you'll enjoy your first class. I've never flown 1st class, but I have fantasized about it a lot!!! I agree with you about AA - even in coach there is more room.
you can drop me an email at brahmama@yahoo.com but it's also nice to share info on the board.
Re: Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
If you are a Captain's Club member you can book "custom air" now. There may not be any addit'l charge if the airline is one with whom Celebrity is associated. In addition,
my research indicates American Airlines to have the most leg room in coach. You might want to consider "business class" rather than "first". It has a lot of the same benefits without the addit'l cost.
Everyone really needs to "read up" on what the Captain's Club benefits entail. They are really good compared to the other cruise lines. These benefits will keep me coming back to Celebrity.
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Your cruise sounds like fun. As for Celebrity's benefits, I suppose it depends on what is important to you. I very much like the Custom Air benefit, but compared to Princess, who charges $ 50 for that, you have to keep in mind things such as completely free Internet access by Princess for Platinum members, a benefit that can potentially save you a great deal more money.
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Just thought I would bring this up to the top in case there are some people out there that are going on the cruise and didn't see it on the first go-round!
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
We are going on the transatlantic cruise also. I'm ready to go now. We're from Dallas and we are going to stay in London a few days prior to the cruise.
Looking forward to meeting you all.
Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Hi Carol, I hadn't seen this post on this board before. As you know we are onboard with you for this sailing. I believe we have over 170 chatting on the other boards. It should be a great trip.

Hey Steve,
Glad to hear you are almost finished with the rennovations. Ok, so when do we get to see pictures???
We've been in Vicksburg (Casino!) for Father's Day - so have some emails to catch up on but always enjoy yours.
I am so ready for this cruise! we haven't cruised since last fall.
I KNOW you have!

Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Carol,
I just put a post up on the other board for the progressive cocktail party. I'm going to need some suggestions on how to organize it. But it should be a great opportunity for us "board people" to all get to see the different variety of cabins.
Re: Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Sue,
We did this on the Radiance last May minus the cocktails.
Started with inside cabins, ocean views, Aft balcony, Midship categories, up to a suite. Worked out great.

Re: September 7 Constellation Cruise from Dover to NYC
Iceland Tour
We need two more people to round out to 8.
We have six persons for a tour in Iceland at about $82 USD per person. This does not include lunch. The same tour with the ship is $119 per person, but includes a lunch. I have been dealing with Vignir Hjalmarsson of HReyFill Taxi Sv. Out of Reykjavik He informs me if we can get two more persons the cost will be about $62/person. Depends on which exchange rate they use anywhere from 69.5 to 71.1 ISK to one USD.
This would be about the same tour as The Golden Circle tour with lunch that the ship offers. Of course we would have the option of avoiding the crowds and eating at someplace different. You can e-mail me at scapel@cox-internet.com
