Default Alaska shore excursions

On our Alaskan cruise (on Infinity) in June with our 11 and 12 year old we were planning on booking the shore excursions thru the ship. We thought biking in Juneau and kayaking in Ketchikan would be wonderful. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. This is our first cruise.

I never book ship excursions and especially in Alaska independent options are excellent. Where is the biking in Juneau?? The downtown area is very congested. Douglas Island is OK. I greatly prefer biking in Skagway- no guide needed and a ride through town is wonderful, little traffic, and going out toward Dyea very scenic- again little traffic. You can book direct with Southeast Kayaks out of Ketchikan. http://www.kayakketchikan.com/ excellent long established well run company.
