This is another benefit that Princess has over Celebrity, they have free self service laundry facilities on almost every deck. Some will say that one shouldn't bother with laundry as they are on a vacation but I like to do a load or two of underwear and socks half way through a 14 day or longer cruise and I don't want to pay ship prices.
Bottom line though, Celebrity still seems to edge out Princess overall in class, food and service IMO.
Sailing on the 12th of April Horizon for 12 night cruise, starting to pack, wondering if I should pack for all 12 days or use the laudry aboard the ship, trying to keep packing light but seems impossible on a 12 night cruise.
We are going on a 14 day cruise with 3 days in London pre-cruise. I'm taking some of my oldest underwear and just throwing it away. But I'll pack for all of those days. Some folks wash a few items in the sink but I'm not going to do that except for an emergency situation.
We sort of have a love/hate situation with the laundry situation on Celebrity. The two cruises we've taken on them we just let them do our laundry...pay the extra money and enjoy not using the machines. On Princess, Holland or even Crystal we do the laundry ourselves...but you know, when it's all over we hardly notice the extra $60 to $150 (depending on cruise length) on our Celebrity bill and find it's added to the pleasure of our vacation not doing laundry! Next cruise is to Europe this summer--our first on RCCL...so we'll be back in the not doing our own laundry mode...I'm looking forward to it!
