My wife and I are scheduled to go on the July 20th sailing of the Millennium leaving from Barcelona, through Italy and Greece and ending in Venice. We put off our Honeymoon until the summer, and have been very excited about this trip. Since the events last week in Spain, and now the word that the US may pull out of the Olympics, we are beyond frightened to goto Europe. We are thinking of changing our trip to Hawaaii. What are others thoughts on this?
Agree with AR - Stick with your plans.
Have lived most of the last 40 years in Europe and traveled extensively.
We were in Malaga, Spain, last week on a cruise when the bombs went off in Madrid.
Although we had not heard about the bombs because we were on an excursion, we noticed a marked increase in security by Spanish authorities.
We have always safe on our many cruises and vacations throughout Europe.
Stay with your plans. If danger is eminent, the state department will issue a "don't go" warning. You can check this out on-line. Celebrity will alter its itinerary in case of threats and substitute other ports of call. Spain has been a country that is being watched for terriorist operations for many years. This is nothing new but the bombing is current and reason to be vigilant of your surroundsing. Stay with ship tours or organized tours. Those including transportation and free time on your own are probably best to get the overview of these beautiful ports & countries. Congratulations and best wishes for a long happy & healthy life as husband & wife. I wish we were sailing with you, but I am now laid off and the primary care giver to my mom who just had a stroke. Enjoy your well deserved Honeymoon.
