Hi - We're ready to book this cabin. We've never been in an aft cabin before. Is it special? Should we take it as opposed to a starboard midship??? Would love to hear from others who have sailed in aft cabins. Thanks.
Have had aft cabins on the Summit and Millennium (don't recall the #'s), they really are great, looking at the wake from the balcony. The balcony is larger than the others plus, since you are aft, you are protected more.
The cabin you are in is marvelous. We book the same one (9201) every cruise. My wife loves the aft cabin. No problem with noise from above and if you want lots of sun, go up to the main decks. My wife refers to this cabin as OUR cabin. Have a great time. Which cruise and when are you going?
We just booked and we opted out of 9201. Too many people said it had no sun and was noisy. We booked mid-ship instead. I hope we won't have too much noise from above. I figured we would try aft on our next cruise..l.but not top level. We're doing Summit's 11 day "Ultimate Caribbean". Thanks to all for their opinions. I must say the nighttime noise didn't scare us since we eat late seating and seldom return to the room before 1:00, but someone's comment about washing the deck and moving the chairs above us, at 5:30 - 6:30 a.m., to get ready for breakfast, really made us decide to go midship.
I stayed in 9162 (on the other side of the handicapped cabin in between 9162 and 9201). Our friends had 9201, so I was in it several times. The balcony is indeed huge. But trust me - if you are bothered by noise (starting 7-8am and lasting until about 12:30am when the dining and outdoor entertainment winds down) - DO NOT book this cabin. It's not that the music is all that troublesome - rather, it's the scraping of the heavy wooden chairs across the teak deck directly overhead. It is really loud - especially when the weather is nice and people are outside. You can email me if you have any other questions.
Sorry to hear of your decision. We have spent 21 days in that room and we too are late to bed. Never, ever had a problem. We plan on spending our next cruise in November in that same room. We have opted to pass on other cruises, because this room is not available. Oh well, we will enjoy the panaromic view from our aft cabin. To each his own. Have a great trip.
Tom - Thanks for your reply. It's really interesting to hear such different accounts of the same thing! That's what makes life interesting. Hopefully, we'll love the cruise, cruiseline and be happy in the room. ( We've never been unhappy in a room on board a cruise...but after reading about the noise above I started to worry...since this is our first Celebrity cruise.) I will DEFINITELY add my two cents after we return. Thanks again.
