Default Tell me it isn't true!

In an earlier post, someone said that Celebrity had offered champagne at a Captain's Club reception and then charged for it! Has anyone else had that experience? I certainly hope that has not become common practice. Some reception. I thought Celebrity had more class than that.

Absolutely false... Not only do they not charge, they will glady get you your drink of choice free of charge. They really do a nice job with this. You are talking about the Captains Club party held on the second formal night of the cruise? I believe the Captain does a welcome aboard speech the first formal night after the late dinner seating. There they might only serve champagne but it's free of charge as well.

Don't forget the free champagne when boarding also. There is no charge for that either. Now if it was a Celbrity Connections PArty, that is different and you would be charged for any liquor asked for. They only serve juices, coffee and tea with muffins, buns cookies etc.

Passionatecruiser,
Yes, I'm talking about the party for Captain's Club members. I think the time may vary from ship to ship. I've only taken one cruise on Celebrity and have a second coming up at the end of the month. We really enjoyed the first and were looking forward to another classy cruise, so when I read that C. C. members were being charged for champagne at that party I didn't want to believe it.

Jeanne&Ellis,
I don't remember champagne when boarding on our last cruise, but I'll be sure to take advantage of that also! Maybe that is one of the amenities that was added since we cruised two years ago.

Thanks for easing my mind. Anyone else that has cruised recently care to comment ?

Toley,

Usually the Captain's coctail party is the second formal night of a seven day cruise. The party is usually held at 7:45 p.m. I think what you might have heard is that there is a charge for any beverages at the cruise crittic connections party. Since both abbreviations are CC I can see how you could get confused. Not to worry, drink up and enjoy your next cruise on Celebrity.. I hope it's everything you hope it to be and more...

We were charged for champagne at a Captains Club afternoon tea in Michael's club aboard the Zenith, Southern Caribbean cruise in Feb 04. This surprised a lot of people who took the champagne when offered by a waiter on a tray, then presented with the bill on his next round.

However, the champagne was free when offered at boarding and at the captains club evening reception.
