Yup. Can't wait either. We are driving down on Friday and staying overnight at the Sheraton. This will be our 11th cruise with Celebrity and our second on the Horizon.
I am in a HUGE group coming from Baltimore. You will know us, trust me, we all have cruise shirts (we pick them up tomorrow). On our first cruise they were Yellow, the last one they were purple, and this one they are Maroon. We all wear them on the first day of the cruise. On the first cruise we got our picture taken in one of the main stairwells (near the excursion desk) and a bunch of japaneese people came up and started taking our picture, thinking we worked for the ship and were part of the entertainment.
Here is the write up, If you know your reservation number go to the celebrity website and book it: (You can also look at all the other excursions they have to offer)
I may end up doing the afternoon Island Party Cruise also but not sure on that yet.
"Don't Stop the Carnival!" is an exclusive tropical carnival party on Hawkin's Island, a private island in the Great Sound of Hamilton. The fun begins when you board the transfer boat and begin a short tour of the Great Sound en route to Hawkins Island.
On arrival you'll be welcomed with live island music, an open bar, and a delicious island buffet before the big show begins. All of the vibrant colors, lights, music, and excitement of Carnival bursts forth on the stage. Comedy, colorful costumes, driving island rhythms, and dancing all culminate with the crowning of a King & Queen, and the spectacular Carnival Parade!
It's a night of great fun, delicious food, endless supplies of island rum, and starlight cruising. A must do on your Bermuda vacation!
Note: There is a small souvenir shop on Hawkins Island. There are approximately 100 yards of walking over even and gravel surfaces with slight inclines and 5-10 steps. Activities at the island are at your own discretion.
Couldn't possibly wait; Going this Saturday. Went twice last year, once with my elderly brother for his birthday. Going again for his 77th. Life is good. Jp
Thanks DaveK. I thought it was the Hamilton street fair that I think they have every Wednesday night during the summer. Don't know if it'll be around when we cruise in October. Can't wait.
From what I have been told the street fair is still on Wednesday (and according to a bunch of stuff I have read)
Formals on this cruise are normally on Sunday (2nd day) and Wednesday (5th day)
As of now I am hitting the golf link on Monday and the Carnival party on Tuesday. Let me know if your group books that Mary, apparently a bunch of people in mine are going to that.
DaveK: I'm willing to bet that the formal night will be on Thursday when we depart Bermuda. Even if it's Wednesday I'll shrug off my evening gown and go out which will make hubby since he always *****es and moans about wearing a tux.
Our son and his girlfriend will probably get a round of golf in. Hubbyn and I plan to totally relax and bum around. No real plans.
Life here in northern Virginia is real hectic as you can imagine. Looks like we will finally get a baseball team around here even though Angelos is doing everything to stop it.
DaveK: Doh! You are right we don't leave to Friday. Then I'll say that the formal night is Friday then. I can't see having a formal night while we are in port. Shoot I'll bet the dining room is half empty while we are in port since most people might be hanging out on shore longer - - kind of using the ship as a hotel.
This time in 2 weeks hubby and I will be finishing up packing, loading the car with the suitcases and we'll be on our way to Nofolk. It's nice to be able to go out the day before and start your vacation a day earlier.
See you there, look for us in the maroon shirts that say Bermuda cruise 2004. Just stop one of them (there will be 40 of us) and ask where Dave Jr is, someone will know.
