I have just discovered the Celebrity offers a cruise to Hawaii by way of LA. It offers 4 sea days over and back. This is what Princess offers also. Has anyone sailed this cruise and how did you like it?? Thanks for the information.
Just reserved the Summit cruise for 1/2/06. If you can go on that particular LA-Hawaii-LA cruise, your per diem is exceptionally low, for all categories. Celebrity's website doesn't seem to indicate the real selling price for that particular cruise so I highly recommend checking with your local agent or some of the other internet sites. Also, you may have to call the 800 number for those websites (for instance, vacationstogo.com) since most of their websites don't show this cruise.
Thanks for your replies. Just spoke to my TA and Celebrity(even though one day shorter than Princess) is a few hundred dollars cheaper. Thinking of '06 can't decide what time frame though maybe Jan.2 (my birthday month). Of course Hawaii anytime would be wonderful.
If you haven't booked yet, I'd reconsider Princess even though I prefer Celebrity for food and service. Princess really leaves out of San Pedro and returns there. Celebrity buses you to Ensenada - a long grueling ride. And then does the same thing to you on the return. That's why we are taking the Island Princess on 12/20/04 for their 15 day round trip to Hawaii.
Yes, we've put our deposit down on the 01/02/06 sailing. Per diem prices on that particular cruise is considerably below other similar cruises. When I last looked, Celebrities site was $400 PP more, across the board, for this cruise. I asked Celebrity why (on two occasions) and they didn't know. For instance, Celeb's site shows the lowest inside at $1415 PP, whereas VacationsToGo has it for $1015. In like fashion, the lowest 2C balcony on Celeb's site is $1940 whereas VacationsToGo shows it for $1540. Orbitz and Travelocity etc. also appear to be getting their prices from the same database as VTG, but Celeb has no idea how they're (the other sellers) are getting their prices.
If you are considering a cruise to Hawaii, the best one is Norwegian. They sail from Hawaii and visit all the island . Their ship have 10 reataurants and 13 bars. if you need more info, email@example.com.

I have not heard good things about NCL especially the disasterous "Pride of Aloha" with its American crew that is not accustomed to the grueling work required. I'll stick with Celebrity or Princess.
There are 10 of us booked on Summit for the LA-Hawaii-LA cruise leaving on 1/15/06. Can't believe we have to wait so long! My husband & I did Summit Hawaii to Vancouver in 2002 and loved the ship and the islands. That one had 5 sea days at the end. We are so looking forward to seeing Hawaii again and seeing more of it than we did the last time.
By bus or ship? They've advertised before but neglected to let people know in the fine print that they'd be bused to Ensenada. I understand they will actually sail from CA in 2006 but I've seen nothing about 2005 yet.
have you been on Norwegian's Pride of Aloha or are you just looking at the cruise on paper? If you've done the cruise I'd like to hear about your experience.
I too have seen very bad reviews for this ship. To be fair, I think things are starting to improve, but I just checked another cruise board where they have a system that allows members to rate the various ships they have cruised on, As of today the rating for the Pride of Aloha was 1.2. That is the lowest rating I have ever seen for any ship on that board.
For comparative purposes, on that system Carnival Spirit currently has 3.6; Rhapsody of the Seas (RCCL) 3.7: and Celebrity Summit 3.8.
Personnally I'd wait a while to see how things go before booking on the Pride of Aloha.
I'm not a big fan of NCL anyway but if someone was determined to cruise with them I think the Norwegian Wind might be a better choice for now.

Ok, I checked w/Travelocity and the 1/2/06 cruise is much cheaper. But is $500 more only 2 weeks later. Must have to do with the date and our cruise is 1 day longer. We still think it's a deal. When we went in 2002 we had a 1-A #9125 before it was Concierge Class and really enjoyed the balcony. This one (2-C) will be smaller.
