I'm trying to find out the details of computer usage on Celebrity. I know the ships have internet cafes, but what are the charges?
Additionally, do they have connectivity so that you can use a laptop in your room, and, if so, what is the charge for that?
I tried the celebrity website, but their "staying in touch" page is out-of-date, and only mentions phone and FAX numbers for being contacted onboard--and does not even list an ocean code for South America.
If any of you have cruised with Celebrity in the past few months, please tell what the capabilities are and how much they charge. These things change quickly so a response from a recent cruiser, as opposed to somebody who cruised a year ago, would be best.)
Celebrity has changed concerning the internet.
On board internet is $0.75 a minute. The idea here is to log on to the free area and draft all your e-mails to Word, save and then go onto your online e-mail and copy and paste from your Word document. Other wise your charges will be high. Printing your e-mails are free.
As for in cabin service it is available on Constellation, Infinity and the Summit at this time.
The fee is $25 a day and does not have unlimited minutes. You can by packages but I don't remember the fees. The unused minites do not roll over.
Need to bring your own laptop, windows based operating system, internal modem.
The days of $100 for the cruise is long gone, as the unlimited minutes.
We were on the Constellation this past September and that is the new policy.

I was on Zenith this past September and there are some sites you won't able to log on at all. They have the usual sites, like AOL, Yahoo and MSN, but there are other sites I like to go visit but can't. I didn't try this site onboard but I don't think you can log on at all.
Just my expereience with the internet onboard.

Re: INTERNET POLICIES ON CELEBRITY?
I think people tend to forget that the internet connection on ships is via satellite and it is VERY VERY slow (and at time unavailable)! I would not rely on it (whether it be the internet cafe or in cabin) if you need to be totally in touch with your business or the outside world.
