Well when you get the e-ticket you don't get but one luggage tag which is just a piece of paper. Now they tell you that you will get luggage tags when you get to the port.
Boy was I glad on my last cruise in Sept. that I had made copies of that luggage tag (laminated them) with my cabin number etc and put them on my luggage. I got to an airport to have my luggage taken to the ship and was told to put it in this truck with all the other 500 pieces of luggage. Now can you see me at the port trying to find my luggage to put a tag on it to get it to the room.
I think E-tickets are OK, but at the port I could here one fellow walking around asking where do you get the luggage tags.
Make your own from the copy. If they don't send you one to make a copy of make it up anyhow and put the name of the ship, the sailing date and your cabin number. Your ID is already on the bags I presume.
I had my laminated, but you could probably cover the paper with that clear packing tape. It is pretty strong.

Our porter filled out the tags for us as he assisted with the luggage, he just asked our name and cabin number...no problem.

The Porters do a great job at filling out the luggage tag in front of you so you can check to make sure its correct. Not sure what all the concern is about this procedure.
