Default a question of policy...help please?

I'm going on a cruise with my family of four, which happens to include my father -who is just about surgically attached to his swiss army knife. I can't for the life of me imagine why he wants it with him on the cruise, but you know boys and their toys...which brings me to my question. Have any of you fellas (or ladies) out there ever brought a swiss army or comprable utility "device" with you on the ship, and has there been a problem with it? There's no rush, as our cruise isn't until June 18th, but I think my mother and I will need at least a good month to pry it from him if he can't bring it along. Thanks for reading and happy cruising!

Sure, of course he can bring it. Can't fly with it in his carryon, but can certainly put it in checked baggage. Probably best to leave it in a checked bag all the way onto the ship.

But hey, people haul lots scarier stuff than that aboard.

Yes he can bring it. I always bring along a Leatherman tool when I cruise. It is a somewhat larger version of a Swiss Army knife. As AR said, have him pack it in his checked baggage and there will be no problem.

I have had a number of uses for my Leatherman. A number of people on an excursion to Chichen Itza were very happy I had it when the guide brought the cooler of beer and soda, but no bottle opener. :-)

Take care and I hope all of you have a wonderful cruise.

Did you have any problem bringing it back on board?
In your pocket - when coming back from the tour?
