I've heard about Princess, Holland, RCL and Norwegian but I know little to nothing about Celebrity. I've been on 2 cruises both Carnival. I enjoyed them both very much. How does Celebrity compare in price? Fun are there lots of activitys? Are the bars open late and casino? Entertainment good? Lots of bands and shows? Age groups? Lots of seniors, younger party crowd, couples, singles or family with kids?Past guest policys or perks?Food I hear is good ,but that is not the first reason I choose a cruise line.I
like a younger crowd with lots of entertainment and a fun atmosphere with lots of activity and large staterooms as well as a reasonable price. Carnival could use improvement on their food though.

With this description I'd say Celebrity is not for you. Celebrity ships do not have a large variety of bars and lounges, and a "hopping" night life. Generally the disco, and one other bar where you might find some "action" in the evening.... and the casino.
The decor is refined, the cabins a decent size, and the food and service generally excellent... but a very different style than Carnival's fun ships... and a different demographic as well.
Generally not a "young crowd", but a mixed crowd looking for relaxed fun as opposed to wildly energetic fun. Though the liveliest deck party I ever attended on a ship was on the Mercury a few years back.
This isn't a ship you take for gambling, nightlife, which is fairly mediocre, or children's programs. It's classier than Carnival in many ways, more refined food and service. The ships are elegant and full of art. Lots of activities and the cabins are quite large.
Carnival's casinos are full at noon on sea days. You'll never find this on Celebrity, it's not who their passengers are.
You would love Royal Caribbean Voyager class ships. Lots of fun. I got hooked on cruising by taking my first cruise on RCCL Voyager of the Seas. I now prefer Princess cruises but they are really in between RCCl and Celebrity. Which ever you choose you will have fun. Make the cruise Yours!!
If you are interested in Celebrity you will not be disappointed in the experience. The cruiseline is wonderful, the ships are beautiful, and the quality of service is outstanding. I have been on several cruises and Celebrity's product is far superior to that of Carnival and Princess. HAL is an excellent line, as well. The food is of high quality and the presentation is usually interesting. What I like best about the Celebrity is the quiet calm of good taste. No overhead announcements and friendly staff make for a truly wonderful cruise. I would sail Celebrity again in a heart beat and I am in September to Alaska aboard the Summit. Another trip surrounded by class.
Advice above is on the money--If you are single try Voyager class on Royal. If married/family then next stop for you would be Radiance Class--try Brililance you'd probably enjoy it. Lots of sactivity--a bit too much involvememnt of CD staff for my taste but party time of some sort is available every night!
