Default Jeans on Alaske cruise

I was wondering if an Alaska cruise is likely to be less formal than an island cruise. Would it be appopriate to wear jeans during the day on board? Also is Celebrity more formal that Princess? Am going first week of June, and have no idea what to pack.Any help would be appreciated

No problem wearing jeans onboard during the day. Perhaps oddly, in Alaska I'm not sure jeans are the best. If you happen to get some rain, you'll stay wet all day.

Celebrity is more formal than Princess, in that Celebrity still has a semi formal night, and formal nights, whereas Princess just has the formal nights and the rest casual.

Celebrity also has ONLY traditional assigned dining times... while Princess has Personal Choice, any time dining.

Jeans will be fine on an Alaska cruise. Alaska and the Pacific Northwest are casual places simply because the weather requires it. I grew up 90 miles north of Seattle and found jeans to be the most practical clothing - I had a 20 minute walk in both directions when I was in university and often walked in driving rain. My jeans were dry within an hour. Be sure to dress in layers with a sweater, tee shirt or turtleneck, a rainproof jacket (Goretex is perfect) and waterproof closed shoes. Then, you can take off layers if it gets warm and sunny, or be out of the rain.

Best Regards,
Julia

Celebrity and Princess are nearly the same when it comes to attire. Jeans in Alaska are appropriate during the day. Formal nights won't be as dressy as they are in the Caribbean, more dark suits on formal nights (two per week).

Celebrity does offer additional dining; casual buffet dining and also their specialty restaurants. Not quite the same as personal choice or anything dining, but gives those pax who don't want to dress-up a choice. I personally still enjoy wearing a tux on formal nights.
