we are sailing on Mecury from Seattle port at the end of Sept. Are there any general or drug stores at the port area where one can pick up water & other last minute items--film, liquor etc. Or--does anyone know of any stores near the Comfort inn near The Space Needle to get these items...flying from NY so we won't be able to tote alot of these small last min items
There are many stores near the Space Needle but fewer near port, especially if you are leaving from the southern most port.
I might suggest taking a cab, if time allows, to the Pike's Market area. It is fun to see and there are lots of stores nearby and the market itself is amazing, to say the least.
P.S. One of my favorite restaurants near Pike's Market (one block inland) is "The Pink Door." It is a great place for dinner and there is a wonderful little wine shop just across the alleyway if you wish to taste or purchase some local wines.
I agree with Chuck about the market, I took a fine salmon home from there on a recent visit. If you take the monorail from the Space Needle it lets you off at the main shopping area downtown where all the things you need are readily available in a few block radius.

There are several restaurants and shops that sell gifts very near by, but I don't recall any "drug store"s near the pier that Mercury uses.
By the way, the boarding process in Seattle on the Mercury in July was the smoothest , and quickest we have had in 30 years of cruising.
We are staying near the Space Needle overnight so we hope we can take the mono -rail to the Marketplace area, do our last minute shopping & have dinner & cab back to our hotel. Want to see the area anyhow & also heard there is a great vinegar store near the wine store...Has anyone eaten at Cutters?
