Default First Celebrity cruise on the Summit...any comments?

Yup, we found a GREAT deal ($4500 for a ocean view 14 night cruise from LA to Hawaii....I haven't been to Hawaii yet and wasn't looking forward to the dull 6 hour flight, so now INSTEAD we can cruise the beautiful ocean and enjoy ourselves enr rather than be stuck in a little tiny seat for many hours which of course would include a screaming infant at no extra charge that you can't escape from!

Anyway, has anyone sailed the Summit? We cruised many times, so we know any cruise is a good cruise, but I always appreciate the comments and ideas from my fellow Cruise-mates!

Thanks in advance!

Aloha!

Gees. Jean, you should have joined us on the CruiseMates Hawaii cruise in Jan. 15 nights to and from LA and under $4000 for 2 for an outside cabin.

At any rate ... I am a big fan of Celebrity, and the Summit is an excellent ship. You'll enjoy terrific service, a friendly crew, and excellent food in the dining room and specialty restaurants.

For lunches, the hidden gems at the buffet are the seperate sandwhich bar, and daily themed buffets at the station furthest aft.

We are cruising April 23rd, and January wouldn't have worked since I need to gather up some vacation time on the books.

Unlike some people I've heard of, I like to use my vacation time during the year!

And Kuki, the $4500 also includes our insurance policies, so I think it's a pretty good deal...maybe someday we'll take you up on one of the Cruisemate cruises....

Kuki,

It looks like we'll both be setting sail on the same day, April 23rd, but we'll both be headed west.

Let's both plan to get a drink-of-the-day on that day and wish each other smooth sailing almost 3000 miles away!

Jean and Kuki-please post reviews of your cruises after you get back.

We want to do a super nice cruise in 2 years for our 25th anniversary-we have been looking at Europe but this Hawaii cruise looks pretty inviting-and hubby and I could fly in a day or 2 early-and at stay at the Queen Mary-maybe that would be better then Europe.

Do you know how many days are at sea-is it 4 each way or something like that?

We were married while cruising on the Summit on the Island of St. John. Loved the Summit and looking forward to sailing on the Infinity, her sister ship, in 7 weeks.

Check out their special breakfast and lunch over near the spa area. Have some wonderful food, all natural with little fat. Good place to heap keep the weight off. The food on all Celebrity ships is excellent, including the spa selection. Give it a try, know you will like it!

Bon Voyage and happy sailing

The spa pool area on the Summit can't be beat, absolutely great pool and with food to boot! I really enjoyed soaking in the pool during all the sea days, it was great!

Susie, I dissagree, the spa pool on the Summit pales in comparison to the T Pool on the Mercury

We did the Med last summer on the Galaxy - one of the best cruises we have taken.

VERY port intensive and exhausting. We spent 4 days pre-cruise in Rome and every port was an adventure. We did not take any of the ship excursions and planned our excursions with folks we met on the boards, had a wonderful time. Highly recommend it.

Next Summer it is the Baltics. Only bad part is that we are not sailing on Celebrity. Jewel of the Seas had such a cheap special rate that I couldn't resist. We have an inside cabin - 12 days for $1,184pp - including all taxes, port, etc. What a deal, can't wait to go.

Please consider the Med - what a great cruise!

We did 1 14-day West Coast/Alaska cruise on the Summit in May 2005. Our first time on Celebrity, but hopefully not the last. It was incredible. Loved the ship, but the crew and the service is what made my first Celebrity cruise the best yet! I highly recommend it.

Celebrity is my favorite line.

You will love the Summit. I'm on her to Hawaii on December 9, 2006 out of LA. This is my first time to Hawaii, but not on the Summit.

The entertainment should be good. They usually are on the longer cruises. Don't miss out on the Cova Cafe's warm crouissants in the a.m.

If you are a martini drinker, Celebrity knows how to do it right.

As always, Celebrity's service and food is always consistent.

I'm also looking forward to eight sea days. Just love those long cruises.

Let us know what you think of it when you get back.

Our first Celebrity cruise was the Summit, too. I was wondering if I would like a smaller ship after two druises on Explorer, but we both LOVED the Summit. We were on a 12-day Alaska cruise/tour. The 7 days on the ship were wonderful. Great food, service, entertainment--just everything. The land tour really set the stage and we had a great tour guide and bus driver. We learned that Royal/Celebrity glass-domed trains have the most glass and that was evident looking at the Princess and Holland America trains hooked up behind us.
We also love the Galaxy from our Panama Canal Cruise last year and look forward to booking a summer '07 Med cruise. We are hoping to book it this summer when we are on Jewel. I've heard that RCI and Celebrity will book each other's cruises since they they are "family" so to speak.
Has anyone been able to do that recently? They are the only two we sail.

Not sure about that, but you are aware that Celebrity and RCCL are letting their Crown & Anchor Society and Captain's Club build points together.
