We just received an upgrade on our upcoming Summit cruise from Los Angeles to Hawaii. Previously we held an inside cabin, midship, on the Plaza deck. Now we have an outside, Continental Deck, third cabin from the front of the ship.
The thing we are worried about is feeling the motion on seas that will most likely be rough.
I would just take precautions and take something for sea sickness or wear the wrist bands to combat it if you are prone to sea sickness. I think the upgrade is great!

I always book mid-ship and try not to get to high in the ship. Stand a pencil on the table and move it back and forth and see which end gets the most motion.
I have turned down numerous upgrades, such as you mention in the past, you made a wise choice.
Very interesting. We will be leaving for a Mexican cruise in about 4 weeks...since the ship is not full at all!, there is a good chance of an upgrade...but we like the cabin and the location we chose.
An upgrade, while giving us a larger cabin, most likely will place us on lesser desirable deck and a poorer cabin location.
Until we read this thread we were feeling pretty foolish for even thinking of rejecting an upgrade if offered, since our way previous way of thinking was that the dream of most cruisers is an upgrade. So AHA... we are now aware that NOT all upgrades are better!
We have only been upgraded twice. Once from a standard balcony cabin to mini-suite on Princess, and from standard suite to penthouse suite on the Norway. Although the upgrade fairy doesn't visit often, each time it happens, it's good for us.
We have only been upgraded on 3 out of 50 something cruises. All three times we went to the very front of the ship. We like the motion of the ocean so that was not a problem. Having to go all the way to the very back of the ship for meals made for a long walk for us(my wife has knee problems). After this happened last time aboard the Infinty we have declined upgrades and stick with mid ship or slight rear of the ship locations.
